Hit and Miss

Hit:

Let’s agree to disagree, for me this is a hit. Not because it’s a great piece of design, or is visually pleasing but rather because it’s got soul. The Art Deco Our House logo reminds me that not everything has to be clean and clinical or have a hipster spin to it to be relevant, engaging and questioning design principles. #ourhouse #melville#gotmyvote #artdeco #logodesign #ihavesoul

Miss:

Miss, I really enjoy some aspects of the Puma brand, there’s a small station close to where I live, the vivid green and red light boxes make a visual impact when approaching from the koppie, the slanted Puma word-mark resonates with speed, performance, and service, the rest of the corporate signature disintegrates into a macabre rendition of road kill, depicted by the puma symbol. It’s lifeless body stretched across its petrol pumps, canopies and pylons highlight the disconnect of the brand message – performance vs tragedy (or a stylization mishap). Pity, as the green and red are my favourite forecourt colours #logodesign #petroleum #puma #red #green
